Delaware Property Tax
Delaware Property Tax Information
Delaware is one of the fastest growing areas in the country. Do you know why? TAXES!
The number of people buying vacation, retirement or investment property in Coastal Delaware increases every year.
Delaware offers Home Buyers some of the Lowest Real Estate Taxes in the country. For most that is enough of an incentive to live in Delaware but when you add to the equation that there is No Sales Tax, No Inheritance Tax for most residents, and No Social Security Tax it is difficult to find a better place to live.
Real Property Taxes
County and municipal governments and school districts are financed in part through real property tax receipts. Real estate is subject to county property taxes, school district property taxes, vocational school district taxes, and if located within an incorporated area, municipal property taxes. There is no State-level tax on real or personal property. The total property tax burden depends on the tax rate, the property assessment, and the assessment ratio.
Delaware offers various property tax relief programs for residents 65 years of age and older, as well as property tax exemptions for residents with disabilities. All senior property tax credit applications must be filed by Sept. 1 and include proof of age (driver's license or birth certificate) and separate applications for all qualified joint-property owners.
